Overview
After upgrading to Business Central 29.0 (2026 release wave 2), users who open Copilot from the app bar see a “Coming soon” message instead of the Copilot chat pane. As a result, the classic chat that worked in version 28.x is no longer available in 29.0.
Copilot Chat Changes in 29.0
Version 29.0 introduces a new chat experience based on Microsoft Copilot (Roadmap ID 573362). It replaces the classic chat pane with a modern interface. In addition, the new pane matches Microsoft Copilot across other Microsoft 365 apps.
Why Copilot Chat Shows “Coming Soon”
The 29.0 client already includes the new chat pane. However, Microsoft is enabling the backend service in phases. Until Microsoft switches it on for your tenant, the pane displays a “Coming soon” placeholder.

For reference, here is how the classic chat pane worked in versions before 29.0.

Who Is Affected
The roadmap lists this update for Business Central on the web in the Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) cloud, with both General Availability and Preview phases. Preview and rollout both start in October 2026. According to Microsoft, the update mainly helps users who rely on Copilot chat for daily tasks, such as operations managers, accountants, sales representatives, and administrators.
What You Can Do
Since Microsoft controls the rollout, the new pane becomes active once Microsoft switches it on for your tenant. After that, users get the same chat experience as Microsoft Copilot in other Microsoft 365 apps. In the meantime, you can take these steps:
- Track Roadmap ID 573362 for rollout updates.
- Tell users that the “Coming soon” message is normal and not an error.
Also, if your company does not plan to use Copilot yet, read Turn Off Copilot in D365 Business Central. For an earlier look at chat, see Chat in Production Preview.
