Prevent Negative Inventory:

Specifies whether you can post a transaction that will bring the item’s inventory below zero. Negative inventory is always prevented for:

1-      Consumption

2-      Transfer Type

If we enable this Boolean, the system will block any sale that exceeds the available inventory.

For example:

·        Item: 1007

·        Quantity in Main Location: 20 Units

·        Attempted Sale Quantity: 21 Units

Since the sale quantity is more than the stock on hand, the system will not allow the transaction.

Now we will disable the Boolean from Inventory Setup Page and then will try to Post.

There is one option available on Item card as well and there are 3 Options inside that.

1-      Default (Yes): The system follows the default setting defined in Inventory Setup. It will prevent posting any transaction that would reduce inventory below zero.

a.       It does not have its own independent rule.

b.      If the default in Inventory Setup is changed later, this item will automatically follow that new default.

2-      No: The system will allow negative inventory for this item, even if the default setting is to prevent it.

3-      Yes: The system will always prevent negative inventory for this item, regardless of the default setting.

a.       The item has its own fixed rule.

b.      Even if the default changes later, this item will still block transactions that exceed available stock.
